River Trips

Do I need any experience to do this activity? |

How cold is the water? |

Depends on the time of year and weather. We kit you up in all the necessary
gear to keep you warm and safe. Just remember to bring some warm clothing
for under your wet suit. |

How big are Grade 1 Rapids? |
| A. |
Grade 1 rapids on the Tukituki River are gentle waves over gravel beds.
The water is generally shallow. You can see the flat water at the end of
the rapid ahead. |

Do I need to be fit? |

Not necessarily. You can let the river take you down most of the way
without much effort. |

Do I need to be able to swim in Grade 2 Rapids? |

Preferably. If you are unable to swim the Kiwi Adventure Company instructors
will need to know in advance. |

Do I need to be able to swim and be water confident
in Grade 3 Rapids? |

Yes. |

How Big are Grade 3 rapids? |
| A. |
Grade 3 rapids are longer and bigger and you will feel the power of the
river. It is likely you'll take a swim and go through some good sized waves.
A certain degree of river navigation is required. You will need to be water
confident and happy swimming in the river. |
Caving Trips

What if I am afraid of small places? |
| A. |
The caves offer a variety of challenges and we will take you into a section
of the cave that suits your group and conditions. |

Will I see glow worms? |

You bet yah. Plenty of them. |

Will I get wet? |

Assume that you will, but it is not always the case. |
Gorging Trips

Do I need to be able to swim? |
| A. |
It is recommended that for an adventure such as this that you can swim
but it is not really an issue just let your guide know. |

Will the river flood while we are in the gorge? |
| A. |
The weather conditions within the catchment are assessed prior to departure
and if there is any indication of heavy rainfall the trip will be postponed
or cancelled.

How fit do I have to be? |
| A. |
A reasonable level of fitness is required for the walk out. The fitter
you are the more you will enjoy the day but we run the day at a relaxed
pace so most average people can keep up. |
Climbing Competitions

How long is the corporate competition? |
| A. |
The corporate climbing competition runs on an eight-week repeating cycle,
on Wednesday Nights between 6:00pm - 8:00pm. |

Do I need to have any experience in climbing? |
| A. |
You don't have to be a gun climber to compete. The competition is designed
to cater for everyone and everything! We have specifically designed the
competition to start off easy and progressively the difficulty increases
to suit your growing skills.
The first night of competition will include safety lessons so you can climb
confident in the knowledge that your belayer (safety person) knows what
they're doing and will keep you protected. |

How are the teams made up? |

It is a mixed gender competition, with at least one female competing
per team. We prefer teams to represent a company but if you are struggling
for competitors we don't mind a couple of ring-ins |

Do all six climbers partake each week? |
| A. |
Four climbers will be required to make up a team, but teams may have two
reserves or subs on the night. A total of eight climbers may be registered. |

What should I wear? |
| A. |
Climbers should wear comfortable sports clothes - no skirts please! Climbing
shoes do make the sport easier and we have a range of shoes for hire or
purchase (first in first served). However, sneakers are adequate. No barefoot
climbing please. |

How much does the corporate climbing competition cost? |
| A. |
The cost per team is $384 per team which works out at $8 per climb per
person and you can win great prizes. It's a great deal.
